Shift Knob Idea

This was supposed to be simple. Find a decent, larger round shift knob to replace the factory one when I reinstall the transmission. The factory one is threaded so first I tried finding out if there were any companies making aftermarket knobs just for Miata's. There are, but they are all pool  balls or metal. I have no idea why those are popular. I guess they are easy to mass produce in China. I wanted leather. So next I looked up the thread pitch so maybe I could find one. The thread pitch is   10 X 1.25 mm for all Miata (plural?). Before I could get too far into my search I decided to check Amazon. I came across the one pictured. I didn't know if it would work but it was so cheap I figured whatever, give it a shot.
